2007 JARRELL ORTHODONTICS' WE CARE TREE
(MERRY CHRISTMAS IN HAWAIIAN)
For the 8th year in a row, the staff at Jarrell Orthodontics took part in WWKI's WE CARE "Trim-a-Tree" program. The staff chose "Mele Kalikimaka" as the theme for the tree in 2007, taking their inspiration from the "Beat the Heat" promotion the office had for patients one exceptionally hot day in July (we dressed in Hawaiian attire, put shells and fishnet around the office, and gave all patients who came in that day a certificate for free ice cream from local businesses!). Meaning "Merry Christmas" in Hawaiian, the tree was a departure from the "traditional" Christmas trees the staff has done in the past.
As you will see from the photos below, the tree was decked out in a riot of color with tropical flowers interspersed between a variety of ornaments featuring Santa "on vacation", flamingoes enjoying their time in the tropics, stuffed bears ready to hit the beach, snowmen made of sand, ornaments flown in direct from Hawaii ringed in 14k gold, and more. Under the tree, Santa left flip flop stepping stones, a beach bag full of beach necessities, a birdhouse in the shape of a tiki hut, a ukulele and more. This tree was definitely for those who dream of white Christmas somewhere else! It was so unusual, Denise Culbertson, our office manager, was interviewe by the Kokomo Tribune who wanted to know how we came up with our theme! We had a lot of fun with our non-traditional tree and have already begun to discuss our theme for the 2008 Trim-a-Tree Festival.
